updated technicals on panicstarter

some of you have expressed some interest in the development of this blog and wanted me to quickly blog on some updates and advancements from a web development point-of-view, so i’ll dedicate this post to that.  also finally got around to putting in some requested features from some of my readers.

first of all, i finally have a link on each individual page leading back to the main page.  i’ve had plenty of people ask me to do this and i’d keep putting it off.  until today.  just click the logo to your left and it will bring you back to the main blog.  ok it’s technically not a logo.  but it’ll still bring you back to the main blog either way.

why the lack of gallery posts?  because i haven’t been taking my camera out lately.  there have been parties and sessions with friends, but nothing camera-worthy in my opinion.  so to those asking about the gallery posts, don’t talk about it.  be about it.  let’s hang out and do something and i’ll bring the camera out and you’ll get your gallery post.

i’m also quite surprised that a lot of the people i know are interested in how my seo development is going.  well, it’s going pretty well.  not as good as most blogs that get thousands of clicks a day, but those blogs have been up for years.  content-wise, i’ve already surpassed most of the popular blogs out there in my industry, but still my blog is very mixed and mashed up.  i don’t want to dedicate it to one specific theme, but i guess the majority of my readers actually don’t mind.

instead of going over the seo details in this post, i’ll simply link you here.  i’ve definitely learned a LOT about how seo works.  there are no tricks.  there are no hacks.  well there are some, but for the most part, it’s all about your meta, your accessibility and your content.  in my humble opinion, accessibility and content are the BIGGEST things most seo experts blog upon.

i’ll post up another seo update very soon.  seo is still mysterious to most people.  sometimes i discover owning keywords that i never thought i would own.  i guess it goes to show that it’s all about the content sometimes.  keywords are the least of your worries.  trust me.

i’ve also managed to finally spiff up the comments a bit more.  there are a few more tweaks i need to make to them, but for the most part it’s pretty enough.

i know i know i know.  style up the search bar.  i will when i get some time after my finals.  finals have been crazy lately.  those projects are really testing my limits, but i really believe i’ve stepped it up a level in my actionscript and php.

content-wise, a lot of people ask me how i have all of this time to post up my stuff.  i simply have spare time to kill in between school lectures or when working on a project at work.  most of my blogging is done from home though in between homework sessions and when i’m just sitting around.  it doesn’t take very long to blog as long as you know what you’re talking about.

it’s like everytime a subscriber visits, there’s at least 5-7 new posts to go through.  well it’s simply a matter of sorting through what you want to blog and post up the juicy stuff.  i just use my best judgement and post up stuff i think will be beneficial to my fellow students, co-workers and friends.

i simply believe that my constant posting is what keeps people coming back.  just look at how popular engadget is.  it’s all about new content.  what’s the point in blogging if you are only going to update once every couple of weeks?  those blogs lose their readers and if i can keep the style up, i’m going to be slicing those blogs up like a hammer.
