soon my brother and i will both be purchasing the hp mini note 2133, now known as the hp mini. at $499 for an 8.9″ screen with a very high resolution of 1280×768, the hp mini note is quite the contender in the umpc world.

the umpc (ultra mobile pc) boom has been flooding the technology world lately with plenty of chinese knockoffs of the ever-popular asus eeepc. at a decent $400 for the 2g surf flavor and $500 for the 4g surf, other companies started noticing the huge response to the asus eeepc’s popularity.
here are the specs directly from HP.
i’m not surprised that the hp mini note has been delayed a few times, but it’s ok. i like to think of it being fashionably late. i’ve done the research and aside from the $1200 kumijo umpc, the hp mini note is one of the sexiest umpc units out there today with a decent price tag and decent specs to boot.
to summarize, the hp mini is only 2.6 pounds, via c7-m processor, 1280×768 resolution on an 8.9″ screen, full qwerty keyboard and available for $499 for the 1.0ghz linux unit with 512mb ram and 4gb of ssd or $849 for the maxed-out 1.6ghz processor, 2gb of ram and 120gb 2.5″ drive running vista business. just a heads up, the hp mini is available to order and the price will vary depending on the options you select. there will be 5 different models ranging from $499 to $849.
of course, mine will be flat black, linux replaced with xp, memory upgraded to 1.5ghz and with a very slick “<3underattacker” sticker up front. it’d be nice to replace the solid-state 4gb disk in there as well, but those things are like $500 for a 32gb disk.
