my wednesday and thursday was supposed to be spent photoshopping and coding my portfolio/resume, but instead, i chose to do non-productive things, if there is such a word that exists.
i woke up in the morning thinking to myself that i had to install my asus silent knight cooler inside the design box so that it can be ready looking good for the portfolio show. even with the silent knight made only for socket 775 motherboards, i was confident that i could install this in a socket 478 motherboard. well, i was wrong. the cooler fits on just fine, but the bracket does not. it is just snugly rubbing up against the power capacitors of my motherboard and bends two of them. now the motherboard does not boot up. not even into the bios.
oh well. that thing was starting to die out on me anyway. random lockups and freezes, it was about time for an upgrade. but i’ll have to deal with that after my graduation. so now that my design box, the very computer that i needed to be functional for these two days, is dead. so the main focus of the day was to transfer as many files as i could to the media box including everything i needed for the portfolio show.
i spent the entire day changing ownership permissions on my harddrives and transferring files back and forth, installing photoshop, setting up my php server on the media box and made some adjustments to the coding of my portfolio so it would look epic on my 22″ at the show. and aside from all that, now i have to spend another good $200ish just to get my design box up and running again, and because i’m ordering new parts for the design box, i midas well order the rest of the stuff i need for my media box, totaling up to an additional $150-200ish.
ughh…it is a good thing i’m super swamped with clients right now.
so now here i am. 3 in the morning on a friday, waiting to fall asleep. just relaxing in my room with my half mango/half water that i drink 2-3 times every night and a can of salt & vinegar pringles. stuck here doing nothing but waiting and enjoying some movies on my media box while browsing the intranets. waiting for the last page of this chapter in my life to finally begin…
