territory hub gets widgets!

widgets

i’m on my final day of the quarter and i think i’ve presented this project like twice already with very good results, especially in my client-sided scripting class (mostly because this project gave all of the 4th-quarter students a taste of php/mysql/database/file handling in their javascript world).

but i’m sitting here after class with one last presentation to go, advanced web-based programming, and although some of the development in this project may be advanced for some, i know kris is expecting something bigger out of me since he knows my capabilities, so the mysql and database in this project just wouldn’t do.

so i did a last-minute widgets design and also added a more secure file-upload script and one-click database backup feature which i’d like to touch up on and post for those of you who asked me for the script at school. what’s more is i had to do all of those scripts in less than 2 hours, which most of the students here could never contemplate or understand in 4 hours with a teacher. but i managed to pull it off…in 30 minutes.

and why did i add “hacks” to this category? well my server disabled the system() function, thanks to some hackers that messed up my pages a week ago. so instead of using the typical system(queryhere) method, i had to do a little hack/workaround, but i’ll save that for another blog.
