i’ve noticed a lot of users visiting my earlier post, osx installed on hp mini note.
that hp mininote 2133 is long gone and although i’ve purchased 2 of the newer hp mini 1000 units, i’ve never attempted to install osx on them. but what i do want to do is give a little more insight into the controversial topic of installing osx on the hp mininote 2133.
i’ve seen all of the threads about my laptop and i’ve also seen the blog articles. there’s been a lot of controversy over it all due to the fact of my lack of actual installation steps. but there’s a reason behind all of that.
you see, i’m all about pushing those that are into technology to further developing this world into a better one. pushing them to do new things, experiment more, document and publish their findings. but people out there are afraid; afraid to try things on their own. afraid to do things for themselves. so instead, they go out there on the internet and google tutorials and conform to what other people have already done.
so for something as difficult as installing osx on a piece of hardware, i was not just about to release the information so easily. in my mind, i knew i could do it. basically. osx is an operating system; a collection of programs communicating with each other to run software. with the proper hardware, osx can be installed on anything. the majority of all laptops usually have the proper hardware already.
the mininote 2133, running on the via chip, could run osx. all that was required was the modification of the kernel. doing so, i could reallocate the appropriate amounts of memory and resources to the debuggers, compilers, text editors and such to run on the mininote 2133 hardware, regardless of it’s cpu chipset. the compiler, with enough resources, can translate the patched code into binary that the mininote’s hardware can understand. please note the word “patched”. obviously, for all of this to work, it’ll require a few extra lines of instructions to run on the altered hardware, but it’s possible.
so please, stop conforming. we don’t want to be stuck at our current stage with a bunch of copycats. that’s all you get.
so please, stop conforming. we don’t want to be stuck at our current stage with a bunch of copycats. that’s all you get -> this must mean that eithr OSX sucks on the 2133, or that you didn’t succeed at all. Also you lack in technical detail. People who have claims release detailed guides and pinpoint the problems such that others can help. You – on the other hand – are keeping all the cards for yourself. This, and low quality of the screenshots might show that this is a fake.
yes, it does suck on the 2133. i already have a macbook and spending hours and hours trying to get it to work on such a small machine is simply inefficient. i have other detailed guides on my blog. try looking for them.
So you mean that this pleasure is available to programmers only…. what about other people , making their way in other areas than programming ? And yes , maybe i’m a copycat for you , but you can be a copycat in other (maybe many or some) areas for others. Trust me , there are many other problems in this world. So , if one got success in something – others can improve your result and/or to succeed in any else project (that you can copycat as well , because of the fact that it is done already).
hmmm, if you cannot provide any technical information about how you got osx running on HP2133, i’m very sceptic about your whole writing here. you name your article like it’s some kind of guide, but you simply say anything useful we all didn’t know before.
i think you didn’t succeed at all. if i’m wrong, provide details and show screenies while booting.
your whole philosophy of “do something new” sounds like an excuse to NOT provide any substantial details.
