first off, i was wrong. iron man was awesome. here’s the review (spoilers):
1. ultimate nick fury in earth 616 iron man? and with a vague reference to the marvel civil war at that from nick fury’s outfit?
2. iron man was marvel’s first independent feature. the movie’s success should indicate that they should continue transitioning their comics into movies in chronological order from now on.
3. jon favreau is happy hogan. jon favreau is the director.
4. for some reason, i expected rhodey to have a deeper voice. he reminded me of his jackson five days playing michael’s high-pitched brother.
5. gadget porn. lots and lots of gadget porn. i especially like his cad system as well as sensor widgets.
6. even with the iron monger armor, obadiah stane is an OLD MAN! he should be in a control room or office making evil plans and making evil laughs. how did he master the armor controls right away anyway?!
7. tony stark is an alcoholic, addict, womanizer, golden boy. robert downey jr. is an alcoholic, drug addict, womanizer, one time hollywood golden boy. how perfect for the role can you get?
8. why does iron man look like he’s about to do the charleston when he flies?
9. if you’ve never read the comic, you’ll still understand and love the movie.
10. the sequel is in 2010, but he’s got a cameo on the upcoming incredible hulk movie. i wouldn’t be surprised if i saw nick fury in the hulk movie, dark knight, spiderman 4 and captain america movies, all primering us nerds for the marvel alliance movie.

i guess it’s ok considering they are using the ultimate nick fury and not the original. stan lee modeled ultimate nick fury after samuel l. jackson, so i’ll let this one pass:
