it’s surprising to see that a lot of my fellow schoolmates and co-workers don’t know that there are portable applications that exist. they were made to install and run directly from your thumbdrive. just simply install them and you’re set. you’d be surprised what kinds of programs out there are available in portable flavor. here are some that i use when a friend’s laptop requires such a program for only a short period of time:
yes, there is a portable photoshop. and yes, there is no registration or license key required. that’s perfect for those of you who can’t get your hands on a cheap copy or don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on the install disks. obviouslythere are other ways to get your hands on photoshop, but i’m sure you can figure it out for yourself.
firefox portable is perfect for those of you who have clients that insist you develop on their machines and do not have firefox installed. same goes for not having photoshop installed or some sort of ftp client, which filezilla reigns supreme over in my opinion. although if you need something that can support SSL-ftp, you should go with something else other than filezilla. utorrent portable is simply a torrent/p2p-sharing application. it’s perfect if you’re on a machine that prohibits the installation of torrent programs because it’s already installed on your usb thumbdrive!
try searching for your favorite application in portable form. you’d be surprised what you’d find out there.
