i’ve had the chance to really get to know someone who i would usually push aside. some of my closest homies absolutely despise this guy for his shortcomings, and for a while, i went with it. i would see him at the local gathering of friends and i joined in on the jokes. but then i started to notice how genuine and humble this guy really was. he kept to himself despite all of the jokes. he still greeted me with a smile despite all of the ignorance. so i decided to try and keep up with the new persona and put some of the charm on him. needless to say, being slow to anger and keeping the integrity that’s expected of us really paid off.
if they won’t take it, i will. it’s just one more hand to add to the list for me to shake.
